Excellence in stormwater management was celebrated and recognised on Thursday, 24 September 2009 at the annual Stormwater Industry Association of Queensland awards, sponsored by Humes Water Solutions.

Excellence in Integrated Water Cycle Management
Willawong Bus Depot Integrated Water Cycle Plan - City Design, Brisbane City Council
An excellent example of how integrated water cycle management can be successfully incorporated into the ongoing operations of a highly complex commercial site through early consideration during the planning, design and construction phases.
Excellence in Stormwater Research/Education
Concept Design Guidelines for Water Sensitive Urban Design - EDAW AECOM
The guidelines have a multidisciplinary focus. This will significantly advance the knowledge and skills of professionals involved with Water Sensitive Urban design and lead to improved water management outcomes.
Excellence in Stormwater Management/Initiatives
Water sensitive urban design retrofit at Industrial Galavanizers, Pinkenba - BMT WBM
T his project demonstrated best practice water sensitive urban design for an industrial site through structural separation of work areas to avoid stormwater being contaminated and inclusion of stormwater treatment systems to achieve improved waterway health outcomes. The project outcomes were particularly commendable given it was a retrofit site.
A Highly Commended in the category of Excellence in Stormwater Management/Initiatives was also awarded for the Kedron Brook Waterway Health Enhancement Prioritization to EDAW AECOM.
Inaugural Neville Gibson Award for Service to the Stormwater Industry:
Grant Witheridge of Catchments & Creeks
The Award recognises significant individual contribution to the stormwater industry for his leading role in advancing stormwater management, waterway rehabilitation and erosion and sediment control.
He has authored a number of key documents that are referenced daily by engineering and environmental specialists, including the Queensland Urban Drainage Manual and the Best Practice Erosion and Sediment Control books.
Grant has also shared his knowledge through education and training activities, and has represented the Stormwater Industry Association at both the state and national levels.
